All beginners are required to choose a racket head that is wider in order to reduce probabilities of missing balls. But for younger people who are also interested should choose a lighter raquet for ease of hitting the ball.

Step two: tennis grip

There are three different grips; eastern grip, continental grip and western grip. Eastern grip is comfortable for beginners. One is required to hold the raquet in front of him/her, ensure that the raquet is perpendicular to the ground when you rotate it. Continental grip is used mainly by professional in serving and volleying it usually begins with forming an eastern grip. Western grip is frequently used by highly developed players in order to improve their forehand play.

Step three: forehand stroke

It is natural and highly considered by beginners and professionals to be an easy shot to master for it is made by swinging your body in the direction of where you want to place your shot. Both hands can be used to perform this stroke.

Step four: backhand stroke

The back hand stroke is made by swinging the raquet away from your body towards a specific location you want the ball to go. It can be done using both hands.

Volleys is when the ball does not touch the ground. To perform a perfect volley you are required to be 3 feet away from the tennis net. Make sure that your shoulders and feet are width apart holding the raquet in a continental grip. Hold the raquet below the stomach ensuring your head is upwards and knees slightly bent in order to reach the ball before it hits the ground.

Step 6: serving

The serve is made by tossing and hitting the ball into the air. The ball should be hit or tossed in the diagonally opposite service box without touch of the net.
